Mach1licdat is a website which sells 'ready-made' music tracks for use in video games. With the help of this website, you can make your own song to be inserted into your game. The great thing about this website is that it uses royalty free music! How cool is that? Although there are some limitations, such as it requiring you to download these tracks onto the PC before uploading them onto the website, mach1licdat will not cost you anything unless you want to purchase a song outright. The site was founded by Matt Phillips in April 2009. He got the idea for the site when he tried to compose his own music, but the software it required was too expensive. Similar to many other websites, Matt uses royalty free music on his website. "Mach 1licdat is an interactive, web based music production tool; allowing people without musical experience to create high quality royalty free music tracks quickly and easily." Mach 1licdat doesn't charge you unless you actually purchase one of their songs. After buying a song, that song will be removed from the site for other customers to purchase (if it's not bought, then other customers can use that same track). Mach 1licdat uses the royalty free music because the company believes that royalty licensing is wrong. The company has a message on their website saying that they don't believe that songs should be copyrighted. A new song is added every week. Below is a list of songs available on Mach1licdat right now:Mach1licdat was featured on the popular website, IGN, back in September 2009. They reviewed songs from this site and gave them a score of 9/10!In early 2010, mach1lic"d played a small role in an article by Vice Magazine. The article was called 'The Rise and Fail of Mach 1licdat'. A writer for Vice magazine asked another music website, TuneCore, to write a review of Mach1lic"d. TuneCore's review was very positive and said they were not familiar with it before. After hearing about it from Vice magazine, they decided to do a review on it. An artist who is featured on mach1lic"d is an up-and-coming producer named Dr Who Dat? (also known as David Hansen). His track at mach1lic”d is called 'Bass Hippy'. It has been seen by many people and downloaded more than 300 times. http://vice. com/read/the-rise-and-fail-of-mach1licdat http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffjensen/2010/10/30/vice-reviews–mach1licdbaybeeprojects http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/?id=20090109&fulltext=818412 The blog, The Rude Party, wrote a review about mach1lic"d on their blog page. cfa1e77820
